CattleUSA Insurance Partner Logic Ag Marketing Commentary
Ever heard of a courage call? With today’s drop based on war fears, potentially lower cash fears, and more possible plant closure fears (strike or new plant), the market has given you an opportunity to buy a call option so that if we rally close to profitable levels you can book LRP without the fear of possibly booking too soon. It is easy to look back and wish we would have done something like buy at the bottom or sell at the top, but it is not always easy to pull the trigger when we think we should. Buying a courage call can help take that anxiety away. Do I think now is the time to go long, not necessarily for everyone. Buying a call option can give you an upside potential gain while knowing your risk. If you have previously booked LRP and the market turns and goes higher maybe this long call option offsets some of your premium. If you haven't booked LRP yet and the market goes higher, it might make it easier to book having the long call option in place. The mental toll these markets can take on hedgers and speculators can be brutal at times. Personally, I like selling premium but in a volatile market paying a premium could be the better choice. If none of this makes sense, call us and we will walk you through it.
