The Feeder Cattle Index rose steadily through January 2026, particularly in the second half of the month, moving from the low 360s to the mid-370s by month’s end. The late-month jump toward the high 374 area (Jan 30) coincided with broader cattle market resiliency despite some wider livestock volatility.

Several conditions contributed to the feeder cattle pricing environment in January, such as, tight cattle supplies, weather risks, and heavy seasonal weight demand into Q1.
